Find Your Breath

Starting your breathwork journey can feel overwhelming. There are a lot of techniques, teachers, and questions. Through my breathwork journey, I learned that I needed a breath routine, a sequence that I followed to develop my breath.
Without developing a sequence, my breath was only reactionary to the moment. My growth was limited to solely managing stress or anxiety. While the breath is the ultimate tool for that, I wanted to grow mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Knowing which techniques to use for each situation takes time. That's why I refer to the remote control. There's a technique for every situation, you just have to know which buttons to press.
The purpose of the "remote control" is to become a partner with your breath, to learn to breathe for the way your want to feel, and to enhance your ability to respond. By pushing the right buttons, you can take better control of your emotions, thoughts, and choices. This is learning to let the breath breathe you.
The sequence I chose for my breath routine is: breath awareness > up regulation > down regulation.
Everything starts with breath awareness. Where is your breath? Is it shallow and quick? Slow and labored? Calm and smooth?
It's hard to know what you need if you don't know where you're at. Take the time to tune your breath awareness.
Next, up regulation. This is building the fire. Raising the heart rate. Waking myself up. Just like movement brings energy and presence, the up regulation breath can build the fire, make you feel alive.
Finish with down regulation. Find your flow. The space of peace and calm where clarity reigns and connection to the present is supercharged.
